Deshen School of the Spirit is a ministry arm of Patrick Oben Ministries Inc dedicated to equipping the saints with the Word of God and brining them into a living relationship with the Lord. The three keywords “deshen”, “school” and “Spirit” capture the heart of our vision and mission:

• Deshen is an English Transilieration of the Hebrew word translated “fatness” in Psalms 36:8 “They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house;And thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.” KJV). Deshen is rich spiritual food and drink, that “abundantly satisfies” the people of God. It is the Word of God, and notice how it makes us drink of the Spirit!
• School signifies a learning environment for being equipped with the Word and the Spirit. We believe accurate interpretation of the Word of God using sound hermeneutical principles should be the foundation for every doctrine or revelation. We take Biblical scholarship seriously and believe every believer can and should learn theologically sound methods for correct exegesis of the scriptures.
• Spirit captures the purpose of this school and is what makes it different from a typical school many of us are familiar with. We believe the accurate knowledge of the Word is important but is a means to an end and not an end by itself. Deshen should lead a believer to be “abundantly satisfied” and “drink of the river of thy pleasures” as noted above. In other words, the ultimate purpose of studying the scriptures is to encounter the living God by coming into an experience of the Spirit. A certificate or degree is not the goal of this school, though it has its place. The ultimate goal is that every student leaves this school full of the Spirit, demonstrating the characteristics of the Spirit in their daily lives and ministry and ultimately bringing glory to the Lord wherever they go.
